Mullah Nasruddin is a fictional and humorous figure in the popular cultures of Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Arabic, the Caucasus, India, Pakistan and Bosnia, which is also very popular in Greece and is well known in Bulgaria. Mullah Nasruddin is more popular in Iran than anywhere else as a humorous but symbolic figure. Some sources consider him real and contemporaries of Timur Lang (d. 807 AH) or Haji Baktash (d. 738 AH). Near Aqshahr, in Konya, Turkey, there is a place that is locked with a big lock and is said to be the tomb of Mullah Nasruddin.
